Most of our products are handcrafted in northern Thailand, by local people in the Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai districts. We are actually based in Chiang Rai, but we travel all over Thailand looking for new and exciting handwoven fabrics to create our range of high quality fashion accessories and home decor products. We also source fabrics from other countries in south-east Asia, and so far our shopping safaris have taken us to Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, India, Nepal, Tibet, Burma (Myanmar), Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
In October I will be doing a road trip down to Korat, (Nakhon Ratchasima), which is about 250 km north east of Bangkok. The Korat district is steeped in history, and is famous for it's handwoven silk and cotton fabrics, which is what I will be hunting for.
The most enjoyable aspect of our business is traveling around looking for products, and interacting with the people who actually create these beautiful fabrics. We deal only with the people who do the weaving, not "middle men", and we make sure they receive a fair price for their efforts.
If you would like any information regarding our products, or even Thailand in general, please contact us via our "Lanna Charm" website, and we would be happy to help you in any way we can.
